Hypermobility
Assembling the Body Puzzle
Got Hypermobility?
Chances are, if you’ve landed on this page, you either have hypermobility—or you’re wondering if you do. You may even be a warrior who has been diagnosed with a hypermobility spectrum disorder, such as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
We understand the frustration, dismissal, and misunderstanding you may have encountered in the medical world—because we’ve lived it too. The all-too-common question from providers “If you had to pick one area of your body that’s the worst, what would it be?” is a clear sign of how often hypermobility is misunderstood.
As practitioners who know hypermobility on both a personal and professional level, we’ve felt those same struggles. That’s why we’ve dedicated our careers to helping individuals with hypermobility challenges feel truly seen and heard.
Whether your primary complaint is multi-site body/joint pain, swallowing difficulties, fatigue, gut issues, weight management or all of the above, we understand your struggle. We recognize the complex physical, mental, emotional, and environmental layers that come with living in a hypermobile body and we are here to help!
Hypermobility is not rare, but it is rarely understood.
Frequently Asked Questions
Outside of PT/OT therapy, what options are there to support my hypermobility?
The Jigsaw Journey Program was designed specifically for individuals who struggle with hypermobility and chronic, multi-site pain. In addition to addressing joint pain, this program also considers and addresses other symptoms that are commonly experienced alongside hypermobility such as fatigue, dizziness, eating challenges, frequent illness and/or digestive symptoms.
How is Health Unpuzzled Therapy different than traditional PT/OT for hypermobile individuals?
Traditional PT/OT often hyperfocuses on one joint or tissue in the body, which is typically an incomplete approach, especially when dealing with hypermobility. Alternatively, Health Unpuzzled therapists understand hypermobility on both a personal and professional level. They evaluate multiple body systems with regard to stability, position, mobility, balance and strength. The way you compensate is unique to you and requires specialized skill and consideration, not “cookie cutter” exercises that anyone can google. Based on your individual situation, needs and goals, your therapy may incorporate specialized techniques such as PRI or QNRT and also goes a step beyond traditional insurance-based PT as it considers your long-term health, wellness and fitness goals.
